More skulls bro. Just can’t help myself. Another faff about with colour – and form! Easy there turbo!

Trying some more stuff with colours. The roundrels are inspired by Miyazaki’s Porco Rosso. Every time we watched it (my wee lad is a huge fan – so we’ve watched it many times) I was planning what colours to paint my roundrels. Now I’m happy. More or less. And if anyone were to shout “Show us yer roundrels!!” at me – I could! Mmmmmm… Roundrels…

Have been working on a few exercises in colour – need to get ’em finished before I start on a new body of work that I’m quite excited about.

Heres on that I finished a week or so ago:

I also started instantgramming https://www.instagram.com/kiramekisan/ . Very exciting.

Was also excited (easy there!) by this http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/12/silver-rest-vw-type2-panel-van/ – always like Dino’s stuff, unlike some of the other speedhunters (the whiney ones specifically), but this article also touches on some social issues in Japan that echo my thoughts from living there and marrying into the madness…

3 bits of 8 bit

Drew this up 2 years ago. Took way too long to finish. Trying to figure out a way to paint more while being a dad and working a day job…

I just figured that it would be best to hibernate during 2012 & 2013. Did find the time to move from Japan to New Zealand too. Much more space – much less delicious udon.

Here’s a painting that I finished about the time I last posted:

This R32 GT-R was owned by a fellow around the corner from me in Minami Machida. He also owned a sweet R34, but got rid of them both for a R35 at the beginning of 2010…

This choice number was in the same aparto carpark as yesterdays car.

Tomorrow we travel back in time…

Been a bit busy hanging out with a young feller who is about to start walkin’ soon. So, being a dad who plans ahead, went shoe shopping…

There’s much more to share – my WTP cruiser purchase from W-Base in Shibuya (had to ride the thing 40km home to Machida, but couldnt sit down & pedal due to the miniscule seatpost, so stood up the whole way after not having ridden a BMX bike for 15 years), more Group C & Nismo goodness from KN’s Factory, a wrap up of my time at Fukushima San’s Grand Slam Pro, some more painting & stickerings and probably more guff.

Hope youve been well!

I threatened several months ago, after posting a shot of a fine Nissan Gloria that I’d taken a fancy to, to post some more stuff from Flyrat in Minami Machida. A visit to Flyrat this past week has spurred me into some form on action. Wot ho!

Also a few months ago at Flyrat, I saw an Hakosuka GT-R being unloaded from a flatbed. This was my second spotting of an Hakosuka in the metal (the first was a few minutes before my first F40 experience, but that is another issue entirely).

This week’s little bit of specialness was a resto project, all set for some grinding:

Like the graceful ageing of a voluptuous starlet (no – not a Toyota). Or maybe Im getting carried away…

Next up will be a selection of some other Skylines Ive seen here. Then Hachirokus, then track cars, then…
