Completed these in October 2021. I think that may have been during a lockdown. Or after a lockdown. Or just before a lockdown maybe.
Now installed in their new home just south of Auckland, New Zealand. To the most excellently fantastic person who purchased them, once again – Domoarigatogozaiimasu!
The first triptych that I started (have finished several since) around 9 years ago. Used some fairly cheap canvases as couldn’t really afford much much else at the time. Because of this, the frame of one of them warped a bit pretty quickly, so I gave up on them and started on some new work. Had worked on them a little over the years, then decided to get ’em done after finishing the Matua School toilets job. And as such it’s quite a cool collection of different elements that I’ve been painting at different times. Anpanman and Baikinman for example – we’d not long returned from living in Japan and my wee boy was a big fan!
It’s been some time since I last posted, but totemo isogashi desu.
Firstly, I finished 男、その8ビットの弾丸が私の一日を作った、ビル。, which is this one:
Also finished “Kanojo mo, ‘misutãsupãkuru’ no chōsen o ukeireru koto o eranda.”
and “Bishōjo sěrãmûn wa itsumo watashi no senaka o motte ita…”
Then painted a skateboard deck for the Show Us Your Deck exhibition at the Incubator gallery in Tauranga, New Zealand.
Then 3 12×12 pieces (“Hitori de iru koto ga nani o imi suru no ka watashitachi wa shitte imasu” 1, 2 & 3.) for the 111 exhibition at the same gallery:

Via my Google to facebook and back translating method it ends up being “She put flowers on her kimono”, which is ok, but I might need to try another method in future. Or name the next few from Homer Simpson quotes. Or Genbaku Onanies lyrics. Good to get it finished and it’s off to it’s new home. And I had some postcards made! PM me if you’d like one.
As the title is a rough translation of, it’s “un named as yet”, which it might continue to be, or I might let Mr fb translatotron do it’s magic. This is acrylic on a hardboard panel – have almost finished the next one on a hardboard panel too. Although I think I prefer canvas. Probably.
As of this piece, my new naming convention will be to come up with a vaguely appropriate title, Google translate it in Japanese, then post it on my facebook page @misutasupakuru, then use the fb translate function to finalise the English moniker. In this case: “Bruce worked hard for her kimono and wig.”
Had been wanting to use the sailboat painting from the Simpson’s living room in a piece for quite a while. Mr Sparkle seemed a good fit. Plus I’d had a request for a Mr Sparkle painting…
